Abstract

Binarisasi merupakan tahap penting dalam analisis citra manuskrip historis karena kualitas pemisahan teks dan latar sangat memengaruhi keterbacaan aksara serta proses lanjutan seperti segmentasi dan pengenalan karakter. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan encoder residual pada kinerja U-Net untuk binarisasi manuskrip daun lontar dengan membandingkan tiga model, yaitu U-Net dasar, U-Net ResNet34 tanpa pretrained, dan U-Net ResNet34 pretrained. Data yang digunakan berasal dari dua dataset, yaitu AMADI Lontarset dan THPLMD, dengan total 261 citra yang dibagi ke dalam data latih, validasi, dan uji dengan rasio 80:10:10. Seluruh citra diproses menggunakan pendekatan patch-based berukuran 256 × 256 piksel. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan metrik IoU, Dice, Recall, Accuracy, SSIM, FSIM, MS-SSIM, GMSD, RMSE, dan PSNR, serta aspek efisiensi komputasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua model U-Net ResNet34 memberikan kinerja lebih baik daripada U-Net dasar pada hampir seluruh metrik. U-Net ResNet34 tanpa pretrained memperoleh hasil terbaik pada IoU sebesar 0,7292, Dice 0,8266, dan Recall 0,8214, sedangkan U-Net ResNet34 pretrained unggul pada Accuracy sebesar 0,9783, SSIM 0,9192, FSIM 0,9385, RMSE 0,1378, dan PSNR 17,7469. Selain itu, kedua varian ResNet34 juga lebih efisien dari sisi waktu pelatihan, inferensi, jumlah parameter, dan penggunaan memori. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa encoder residual berperan penting dalam meningkatkan performa binarisasi, sementara pengaruh pretrained bersifat tambahan.
